  1. UN in Action 1: In 2019, WFP conducted training in Sint Maarten as a continuation of the joint WFP/CDEMA capacity strengthening efforts in the region. The workshop was organised and carried out in collaboration with the government of Sint Maarten and K1 Britannia Foundation and was the first of its kind in Sint Maarten. WFP also participated in a panel discussion during a national preparedness meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister of Sint Maarten.

  2. UN in Action 2: PAHO is continuing to support the development of their National Multisectoral Action Plan for Non-communicable Diseases. PAHO also provided technical assistance and raised awareness on the importance of NHI with policy makers, the Council of Ministers and Parliamentarians. Negotiations are also ongoing for EU funded grant to build resilience by improving emergency response and disaster preparedness for the people of Sint Maarten.

  3. UN in Action 3: WFP conducted case studies on shock responsive social protection in Sint Maarten and Aruba. Work is underway to initiate an additional one for Curaçao. These case studies provide insights on emerging trends to shock-proof national social protection, looking at SRSP programmes through five dimensions for system preparedness: data management, targeting, delivery mechanisms, coordination and financing.
