The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office, in conjunction with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, is launching an art competition for Human Rights Day, celebrated worldwide on December 10.
General Rules

2. Select one of the five categories as the basis for your artwork:
- Rights of migrants and refugees
- Rights of children
- Gender equality
- Right to a healthy environment
- Rights of people with disabilities
You can make submissions in multiple/different categories, but you are only allowed to make one submission in each category.
3. Entries may be drawn, painted or sketched using pens, pencils, crayons or charcoal, or using oil, acrylic or watercolour paint, as well as mixed media. Digitally created artwork is also permitted.
4. The contest is open participants ages 9 to 19.
5. IMPORTANT: All participants under age 18 must have their artwork submitted by a parent or guardian on their behalf.
6. Submission deadline is Friday, December 3 at 5pm. Winners will be announced on Human Rights Day - Friday, December 10.
7. Submit your entry via email to unrcott@gmail.com. The body of the email must include the artist's full name, parent/guardian's phone number (if the artist is age 18 or over, he or she can provide his or her personal phone number), email address for the artist or parent/guardian, the title of the artwork, the category which the artist is entering, and a brief summary of what is depicted in the piece.
8. UN staff members (including interns and consultants) are not eligible to apply.
9. All entries not respecting the theme, or the technical/authorship requirements will not be considered.
Important information
- Be creative and show the importance of human rights in creating a world where we are "All Human, All Equal" - the theme for this year's Human Rights Day commemorations.
- Entries will be judged based on creativity, composition, theme and technique.
- All artwork must be original and the creators retain all copyright of the materials submitted. Artwork should not contain photographic images of the contestant nor other personal information.
Prizes
An independent panel of judges will review and decide on the winning submissions.
